What Is Toronto Tech Week? After the Collision Tech Conference announced 2024 would be its final year in Toronto, a new nonprofit was created to launch Toronto Tech Week (TTW), running June 23–27, 2025. Founded by Golden Ventures, Daybreak Studio, and BetaKit, with financial support from presenting sponsors City of Toronto, Shopify, and Google Cloud.

One of the highlights of Waterfront Magazine’s annual Outstanding Women Awards (OWA) event is the Legacy Lifetime Achievement (LLA) award that recognizes woman, who have made a big difference, in other people lives and their communities. In 2019 this distinguished award went to, Dr. Jean Augustine, PC CM CBE, for her trail blazing contributions in politics and community.

It goes back some time ago. I was involved with the original bid, which was done by the True Patriot Love Foundation and which I co-founded back in 2009. Essentially two years ago we secured the games and were notified we’d be hosting the games in 2017 and I was asked at the time, given my participation in securing the games, as well as what I have done for close to a decade in the philanthropic space for military families, if I would be interested in helping to deliver these games in September of 2017. 

 I’ve always believed that when it comes to our environment, we Canadians get it. We appreciate its beauty, understand its dangers, and know its value.
